Opportunity Homes, a partnership between CHN and Neighborhood Progress Inc. (NPI) and others, has completed renovations on 10 single-family homes in areas designated as national historic districts and/or Cleveland landmark districts. An additional 7 historic rehabs were completed in areas eligible
for listing in the national register of historic places. Historic homes were restored in Cleveland’s Detroit Shoreway and Glenville neighborhoods.
Once vacant and vandalized, these properties have been restored back to their neighborhoods as beautifully renovated homes that are healthy, highly energy efficient and affordable to moderate-income buyers.
Historic renovations were balanced with affordability and efficiency to ensure that homeowners could reap the benefits of energy efficiency and maintain the home over time. All homes meet the city’s guidelines for historic renovations while exceeding Green Communitiesã standards set by Enterprise Community Partners, a framework for building environmentally friendly, affordable homes.
Innovative homebuyer financing made it possible to sell these homes at affordable prices to moderate-income families earning 120% or less of Area Median Income (AMI). This was made possible by local, state and national programs that included the national Neighborhood Stabilization Program and city and state programs.
All historic homes are sold except two: 11122 Ashbury and 1450 E.109th Street. If interested, call CHN’s sales line at 216.774.2400.
